A Climber

This girl can climb and does EVERY chance she gets. I've caught her sitting on my dining room table, on the dishwasher, and of course... the above.

She is very independent (already). If she wants something from the ice maker, she will push a chair next to it and start pushing buttons. She discovered that if she puts a chair next to her booster seat, than she can climb on the chair to get to her booster seat without anyone's help. Amazing how much they learn so young.

How Our Garden Grows

We planted our first garden this summer. I think I started it too late to get the full benefit of a fruitful garden, but we were able to get some okra from it.
We found one small watermelon today. I don't think we're going to be able to eat it though. ;-) Well, I had to start somewhere.

Science Project

Courtney learning about oxygen and fire in science. They're watching hydrogen peroxide and yeast interract to blow up the balloon. K was afraid the balloon was going to pop. He really enjoys helping with their experiments.

Ready, Set, Go

Here's a video of K and L racing up and down the hall. "P.E." or just trying to get them tired before bedtime.... hehehehe

If you listen, you can hear L saying "Go."

Favorite Toys

Parents spend SO much money on toys, when all they really need is a big box. This box currently serves or has served as a "bed", which he slept in one night, a fort and a boat. Kids imaginations are so wonderful.

Hide-N-Seek

The kids like to play hide-n-seek. One of K's favorite places to hide is under the bed. I guess L decided she could do it too. She was able to get under the bed just fine, getting her head out was a little tricky.

K, the Ringbearer

His "job" was to walk to his daddy. What you don't see in the video is the flower girl throwing a handful of flowers at the groom. It was cute!

K was ringbearer in a wedding this weekend. Here are some pics from the very memorable day. I wasn't really sure how he would do walking down the aisle or if he even would, but he did. He even sat still with his daddy throughout the entire wedding. When it came to pics, he cried while they took the pictures. I hope they send me a copy to put in his baby book later. It'll be one worth looking back on. ;-) Playing a game of Operation.

Gymnastics

K started gymnastics on Tuesday. There were about 6 kids in his class and he was the only new one. It took him about 45 minutes to warm up and do something besides just sit and watch before he actually participated. It was when his teacher pulled out the obstacle course and they got to jump, climb, and crawl that he really became interested, lit up, and started participating. After the obstacle course, they went to the trampoline and I lost my boy to the world of gymnastics. He seemed to fall in love and had a blast. When class was over, he told me, "When I come back to gymnastics class... " I'm looking forward to watching him grow in discipline and patience as he shares his love of doing flips with his friends and gymnastics teacher.

Back to School

We started school on Monday. My plan is to start early and get out early so we can enjoy summer early. The younger two kids love being outside, but it gets so hot so quick that playing outside for too long almost becomes miserable. I've proposed to the older girls that we do school at night so there is minimum interruption. My thoughts are that if the younger two are in bed, than the older two would have my undivided attention and my husband would be able to help more. There would not be a need for me to stop and feed the younger two, change diapers, or worry about nap time, bo bos or field trips. The girls would be able to stay up later and sleep in later if we did this, but they wouldn't be able to watch movies in the home theater with M if they weren't finish with their schoolwork. By having school at night with the older girls will allow me more play time with the younger ones during the day. It seems like a win-win situation.

We were able to do school Monday night and it seemed to work just fine and I still was able to get a lot of my work done as well as get to bed at a decent time (for me). Although we like the idea of doing school in the evening and are planning on making it a consistent routine, we are going to have to plan it around our evening schedules. When I have something planned in the evening or when M and I go out on a date, school will have to be done during the day and we'll have to adjust our schedules. For now, we are trying to find what will work best for our family. What does your schedule look like?

I do have to say that I love the flexibility of homeschooling.
